Tuesday Night Dress Rehearsal

As usual, it is mine and Tracie's mission to make Friday night a good dress rehearsal and not just a regular rehearsal.  Sooooo, I would like to make Tuesday more of a dress rehearsal than it has been in the past.

How will we do that?

  1. Be on time.  Be ready to go at 6:30.  That will leave us time to warm-up, and review our placement so we are ready to go right at 7:00.
  2. Treat it what it is, A Dress Rehearsal!  That means pretend that there is an actual audience at the church.  No talking!  (this means me, Susan and Tracie)  It's hard (I know) to to talk, but to be at our best on Saturday, it is essential to minimize talking.
  3. We will be going in order with no stopping or repeating.  If we need to work on songs, we can make a note of that and review after we have completed the entire performance.
  4. Please review all staging before we begin.  There have been one change, we will not be standing in sections for Top of the World and Under the Sea.  Please review the line-ups also before we begin.  Those will all be posted and easily accessible for everyone.
Thanks again for all of your hard work!

Props Needed

We are in need of the following "additions" to our family:
Funny Hats for Dad (cowboy, corn cob, Mickey Mouse, any pro team etc.)
Mardis Gras Garb
Beachy Stuff
Broadway Memorabilia
Red Sox (hummm, who would have that?)

Please comment what you have and bring it on Tuesday night!  Thanks!

More tips for the concert!

Can you believe it..concert is next week!! We are so excited!  This weekend would be a good time to make sure you have everything squared away for hair/costume/makeup so that you aren't stressed out running to get things last minute.  A few pointers...make sure that your black nylons are BLACK.  This can stick out on stage a lot.  Also...as it is mentioned each concert (and not to make anyone feel uncomfortable)..please make sure you are wearing a good quality, supportive bra..we want our focus to be elsewhere.  :)  Get plenty of sleep..and drink LOTS of water!

First half
We will be wearing our "travel attire" (cardigan, jean capris, and white collared, buttoned up shirt.) For jewelery we would prefer pearls. Try to come up with some sort of vintage hairstyle/makeup look as well.  You know..red lips, the eyeliner.  If you are unsure of what this is...google vintage hair and makeup. There are a lot of great ideas on Pinterest as well.  If you are having trouble with any of this please don't hesitate to ask you fellow Musette sisters. There are many who would LOVE to help you.

Second half
For second half we will be wearing our black pilazzo pants, 3/4 length black shirts, and the sparkly silver shrugs.  Everyone will be receiving a sash with a state on it as well.  Also, black character shoes.  For jewelery we want silver (please no gold) sparkly/blingy necklaces and earings or bracelets and rings.  Something that would stand out on stage.   At the last rehearsal everyone saw how gorgeous Lisa looked. :)   It is HIGHLY suggested that we find an updo for second half as she had. Try to add some sort of fun flower or feather to it if you can like Lisa did.

For makeup remember to try to do as much on your own as you can as to cut back on the time Leslie has to spend on each individual person.  For foundation..a shade darker than what you usually use is best for the stage. A lot of places like Sephora, Clinique etc are willing to match you and give a you a little sample.   Remember blush...we don't want anyone to look washed out...  Leslie will be available a little earlier that the first slot on the makeup scedule to help anyone that might need extra help also.  The makeup scedule will be up on the blog shortly!

We apologize for so many changes in the costumes and appreciate everyone being patient with us as we have tried to create the right look for this concert.  It is going to be a blast and you are all going to be gorgeous!   Again, don't hesitate to ask for help in advance in you are going to need it.   Last concert it was so neat to see everyone helping each other with hair and makeup.. it was half the fun!  How often do we get to do these fun updos? Lets have fun with this!

Love,
Emily, Dausha, and Lisa

Musettes Photo Shoot

Well ladies....here you are!!!  Check out our cute pictures!  I think they look great!  Too bad the lighting was so bright, but I like them anyway!!!  Hope you do too!!!  Which one is your fav???

Baby Sitter Surprise!

To all you Marvelous Musettes.......

We, on the babysitting committee, are planning a small SURPRISE babysitters appreciation gift and would LOVE for everyone to participate in giving a HATS OFF to our sitters.

Lori Slover and Sue Athay have done a wonderful job with our kids this year, taking if upon themselves to celebrate birthdays and special occasions with different activities (like the Easter Egg "hunt") and small gifts that they have provided themselves.  I think you'll agree that our kids have seemed very happy this year and we haven't had many crying kids/babies in the rehearsals with us.  The moms with small children have been able to concentrate more fully during rehearsals since their kids have been so happy. Most of us have been at the point of having to take advantage of the Musettes childcare so we should know how nice that is when we know our kids are enjoying themselves.

So at next week's rehearsal, MAY 2nd, we want to present the gifts to our sitters.

A reminder to all the moms with kids in the nursery.....
PLEASE BRING your kids' handprinted/decorated "cards" with you
                         TO REHEARSAL TOMORROW, APRIL 25th

Also, we will have two cards for everyone to sign tomorrow
and, if you can, please donate $1 towards the thank you gifts to defray the cost.

You can give the money to Chalese, Janeil or April

Thanks so much and we'll see you tomorrow.

Costume Help Wanted

We have some fabric to make scarves.  We aren't sure if we will use it for this concert or not.  We will definitely use it for sing outs.  We would love some help zig zagging the edges of the scarves so they won't fray.  Who could help us?  You can take them home and do them as you get time.

Choreo Rehearsal

This will be our final choreo rehearsal.  Please come if you can swing it.  We always get a lot done.

Wednesday, April 24
10:00 a.m.
LDS Birch Building (across from CWI & Idaho Center)

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Vacation Pictures Needed

I have received pictures from a few of you.  This is your last chance!  If you would like your family featured in the program, please get me your pictures ASAP.  Thanks!  Lisa

Costume for Sing-Out on April 18

Please wear the travel attire again this week with the changes that Dausha and Emily talked about.  The cardigan with a crisp, white, button-up shirt with a collar and some kind of coordinating color using a scarf, flower in your hair, or flower clip on the sweater.

We are hoping that this gives us more of the "clean and sharp" look that we need on stage without having to make any more change (i.e., shoes).

Please plan on wearing your black and sparkly outfit to next week's sing-out.  Doing all of this prior to concert week will be very helpful to everyone.

Children's Hand Prints

Thanks, Chalese, for the reminder.  I was collecting all of the cards with handprints and only received 2 parents'/kids' cards.  Remember, we need 2 cards for EACH child since we will be giving a memory book to EACH babysitter....Miss Sue and Miss Lori.

Please decorate the cards/handprints however you want --- glitter, stickers, personal note of thanks from you and/or the kids.  Be creative.  The sitters are going to be soooo surprised and LOVE it!!!  They have been so much fun and done special activities with the kids this year (Easter Egg Hunts, special birthday treats and a small gift for birthdays, etc)  I think you'll agree that our kids have been soooo happy this year and that's a tribute to our wonderful ladies in the nursery.

Let's show appreciation!!!!  Besides the binder/book of handprints we're hoping to present them with a small gift.  If you feel like contributing $1 towards a small token gift, please let me know by responding to this email.

Thanks so much,
Janeil

Update on costumes

FIRST HALF OF SHOW COSTUME

Just wanted to give you the latest update on costumes from the costume board.  Hopefully, these changes will help the overall look onstage.

SHIRTS-White cotton button-up shirt with a collar which will go under the cardigan.
CAPRIS- Should be mid-calf length (so some of you might be rolling them up a bit).
SHOES- We recommend white sandals or shoes similar to keds.
(I know some of you have to wear specific shoes for certain issues and that is fine)
JEWELRY-All jewelry must be pearls. However if you are wearing a scarf around your neck, you don't need to worry about a necklace.
ACCESSORIES -We highly recommend wearing a fashion scarf in a complimentary color to your cardigan  or  a hair wrap headband.

We apologize for those of you who have bought items already. Even though we might have looked good individually, (& I'm sure the picture will be great) but as a group today, it looked a little busy and almost sloppy. We are just trying to clean up the overall on-stage look.

If you have any questions about costumes, please don't hesitate to ask one of us on the board.
Dausha, Emily, Lisa Hendricks

Collecting nursery children's hand prints =)

Just a reminder:
Tomorrow we will be collecting the card stock papers that were handed out a couple of weeks ago. We would like each child in the nursery to trace their hand prints and sign their name.  When finished there should be two card stock copies per child.  If you didn't get a card stock paper I will try to have some and you can quickly trace your child’s hand before they go to the nursery tomorrow.  Thanks! See everyone tomorrow!

TRAVEL ATTIRE FOR THURSDAY

For sake of clarification, "travel" attire for our concert consists of your cardigan, shirt, pants, shoes, and suitcase.  We will take pictures in front of the Nampa Railroad Depot.  Bring your suitcases because we will use them as decor.  Some of you will be holding them.  Some will be sitting on them.  Some will just be placed to the side.

Sing-Out Song List

The following are the songs that we will be singing for our 2 sing outs on Thursday, April 11 (next week)

Tumbling Tumbleweeds
Crawdad Song
American Salute
Sing, Sing, Sing
Somewhere Over the Rainbow

PHOTO FOR THE NEWSPAPER!

Hey gals,  Gerry Winter is in charge of writing a newspaper article each concert and does such a wonderful job.  We have learned that if we have a great picture to send in with the article, we get a much better spot in the paper in the community section.  Gerry suggested that it would be fun to have a photo of us in our "travel" attire to go along with the theme for the show.  SOOOOOO . . . . Thursday just prior to our sing-out we will assemble in front of the old Nampa train station which is just a couple of blocks away from our rehearsal site.  We will have a professional photographer there.  Please wear your "travel" attire so that we can quickly do the photo shoot and then get to our sing-out (where we will also be wearing our "travel" attire).  If you want to have all your friends see you in the newspaper, come prepared for our photo shoot.
